The World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) Europe Region is looking for a new Editor-in-Chief for Mozaik, our annual ecumenical journal. Established in 1992, Mozaik serves as a critical platform for dialogue and reflection on the key thematic areas that shape our work: Identity, Diversity and Dialogue, Peacebuilding, Eco-justice, Human Rights and Democracy, and Youth Ecumenical Leadership. Published annually in English, Mozaik is a space for young voices to contribute to the ongoing conversation in the Ecumenical world.

About the Role

The Editor-in-Chief will lead the editorial team to produce the next issue of Mozaik, which will be published by the end of 2024. The upcoming issue will focus on “Mental Health as a Human Right,” which has been at the core of our work this year. Looking ahead, the 2025 issue will address “Ecumenical Leadership and Peacebuilding in Europe.”

The Editor-in-Chief will be responsible for ensuring the thematic coherence, political alignment, and overall quality of the journal, in line with the editorial policy of Mozaik. The Editor-in-Chief will work closely with contributors, the journal’s editorial board, and the WSCF European Regional Committee (ERC) to deliver a publication that reflects the values and mission of WSCF-E.

Key Responsibilities

  • Encourage, receive, and process contributions for the upcoming journal issue.
  • Collaborate with contributors and editors, support the search for an Art Editor and Illustrator, and oversee the editing process.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of the Illustrator and Art Editor.
  • Maintain the journal’s quality and reputation.
  • Report to and maintain contact with the WSCF European Regional Committee (ERC).
  • Represent Mozaik at WSCF-E events as able, serving as an ambassador for the journal.

Essential Requirements

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Mozaik‘s thematic areas.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Previous editorial experience.
  • Ability to issue an invoice or receipt according to the country of residence.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with WSCF or other Church/ecumenical work.
  • Willingness to work on both the 2024 and 2025 issues.
  • Availability to participate in at least one of our forthcoming youth conferences:  Share the care (October 28 – November 1, 2024) – Youth in Leadership Today (March 3-7, 2025), Frame the Future (late October or early November 2025).

Remuneration

The role offers a solidarity fee of 500€ per issue.
