Welcoming a new Regional Secretary

We are happy to welcome the new Regional Secretary of WSCF Europe to the Berlin office starting June! Hans Hommens is originally from Berlin though has been studying in Heidelberg, Germany and Bradford, UK. We hope you meet him soon, but for the time being he has shared his bio with us:

“I was born in 1982 in Berlin, East Germany, and grew up in a radically transforming society, full of optimism and ideals, but also initially divided by disappointed hopes. Wanting to understand more about social change and cultural diversity I studied South Asian history and Anthropology in Berlin and Heidelberg from 2003 to 2009.

I then complemented my education by a Masters degree from Bradford University’s Peace Studies Department (2010-11). My faith was shaped a lot by growing up in a largely areligious environment and so ecumenical encounters for me became a place of widening horizons and experiences of community early on. Thus I am active in the ecumencial movement of Taizé for many years now and was a member of various ecumenical communities in Heidelberg and Bradford.”
